2) Join short sides to make a tube. Turn right side out.

3) Add piping at the ends, if desired.

4) Cut 2 5-1/2" x 18-1/2" strips of background fabric. Sew short sides of one strip to make a tube. Repeat with other strip. Finish one end of each tube with narrow or rolled hem. Attach, right sides together, raw edges even, one to each end of the pieced tube.

5) Roll up a piece of scrap batting to fit the tube (between piping) - make it fat. Run a row of gathering stitches 2-1/2" from piping on each end, pull tight and fasten well. See Illustration B.
